The Importance of Honouring Your Needs

One thing that I always encourage my clients to do, but am also guilty of not doing, is honouring my needs.

Life is busy right?

There is so much to do, and we often feel like we don’t have enough time to do everything we need to do, so how on earth can we make time for our own needs?

It is so easy to forget about us - and as soon as we do - everything feels hard, we feel tired, challenged, stressed, irritable and sometimes just angry.

Then when we actually take time to stop, to pause, to breathe and just be - we all of a sudden feel better, are able to think more clearly and are more grounded.

So I want to ask you a few questions.

🌙 When do you stop and actually think about what you need?

💫 When do you create time for inspiration?

🌙 When do you allow yourself to do something creative?

💫 When do you make time for you?

I want you to pause and think about these questions. If you’re at home, you might like to push pause on this podcast episode, go and journal your answers and then come back to this.

The main reason I’m asking this is because so many of my clients want to make change, but it’s scary (for so many reason) - so they take the easy way out.

They ignore what they want, need and feel called to.

They don’t trust their intuition.

They just get busy. Focus on their to do lists. Focus on the housework. Focus on what other people need - and completely ignore what they need.

Then wonder why things aren’t changing or they aren’t making any progress.

What I often see is someone setting a really clear intention, or tuning in to what they need, feeling really good about it, and maybe spending a few days focusing on it, then something goes wrong so they forget about their intention and just go back to the same, unsupportive habits.

Now you might be listening to this thinking “well maybe they just don’t want it” or maybe the judgey part of you is judging them - don’t make yourself wrong for that. Unfortunately we all judge people at different times - it’s part of being human.

But here’s the thing - if your needs have never been a priority - then it is going to take time, practice, consistency and accountability in order for you to make the changes you want to make.

It is SO normal to hit the ground running, make a heap of change and then things slip back into old programming - then kick start things again - and continue to move in this cycle for a while.

While this is super frustrating, it’s so normal - but the amazing news is that it doesn’t have to be like this.

Yes, we are cyclical beings and there will always be ups and downs, but you can learn to honour your needs as you move through the good and the bad.

Whaat I know to be true, for myself, my friends and my clients - is that lasting change happens when we invest in external support. When we decide to call on someone to hold us accountable.

Here’s the thing - if you want something, but you don’t tell anyone - it is SO easy to not do it.

  • Getting the massage

  • Taking a day off

  • Exercising

  • Not drinking alcohol

  • Journaling

  • Meditating

  • Spending time with family

  • Going on an adventure

  • Having fun

But - once you tell someone what your intention is - then you are so much more likely to actually do it, because you aren’t going to want to disappoint them - or yourself.

This is all part of honouring your needs. In order to make it a habit, sometimes you need to grind it out a a bit as you create new habits - and that’s why having someone to support you is SO helpful.

Imagine if you created space (even if its’ 5- 10 minutes) everyday to just sit with your thoughts.

💞 Imagine the creative downloads you would get

🤩 Imagine the clarity you would receive

🥰 Imagine how much your intuition would have to say

💅 Imagine how much more relaxed you would feel.

This is all part of honouring your needs.

This episode doesn't have an answer or outcome or process for you - it’s more just to get you thinning about how you can honour your needs.

I do have an invitation for you though.

If you are ready to honour your needs - whatever that looks like - I would love to invite you to join me for True Self Experience.

This is a 6 month program where you will be asked by me every fortnight (and sometimes more often) what you need. You will learn how to honour your needs AND not sacrifice everything else you want to do.

You will learn how to tune in and listen to your intuition.

You will also learn to love yourself and discover a genuine happiness you have never known.

Tomorrow is the last chance you have to join for this round.

At this stage, this is the only way to work with me over the next 6 months- and I will not be launching TSE again this year.

If you want to know more, head to: www.jacirogash.com/trueselfexperience

And if you want to chat to me, do it quickly!! The best way is through insta DM (@jaci.rogash)

I would love love love to support you as you embrace and honour your needs.

Big Love,
